FAQ

What's DIY Lithium?
A design thinking firm and incubator.

What's the origin of the name?
It's a play on DiLithium crystals from Star Trek. The mythical element fuels their warp engines, which in turn enable interplanetary exploration.

How do you work?
We often cite the example of the potter's wheel. Turns out, it appears centuries before the wheelbarrow in most cultures. Our investigations are obsessed with the question, what's today's pottery wheel?

What's an example?
AI today resembles a parrot--replaying our own memes and images. Of course nobody thinks it stops there. But just how this new mind helps us is TBD.

How does your incubation process work?
We have a research track that investigates new ideas and theses year round. In parallel, we fork off 90 day commercialization tracks around specific proposals. We're in constant dialog with finance and industry to share information and speculate on the future.

Do you prefer collaborating with industry over finance?
It depends on the project. We find industry is often ready to partner sooner in the lifecycle of a given technology. They often know more, have more to gain, and more to lose. Microsoft's closure of OpenAI is an interesting case study.

I'm an investor or operator. How can I collaborate with y'all?
